Pembangunan Jaya Center for Urban Studies has held the 2nd "International Urban Talk Series" in collaboration with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

To increase cooperation between Pembangunan Jaya Center for Urban Studies, Universitas Pembangunan Jaya, and Technische Universität Dresden (TU Dresden) with the support of the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation, the 2nd International Urban Talk Series with the theme "Decoding Private Cities in ASEAN: Perspective From Private Developer has been held successfully.

The International Urban talk invited the General Manager of Property Development from PT Jaya Real Property, Mrs. Arum Prasasti, and the Director of Ciputra Hanoi-International City Development, Mr. Agussurja Widjaja. The seminar was attended by more than 50 participants from several countries including Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia. The 2nd International Urban Talk Series is a form of the implementation of UPJ's foreign cooperation activities with the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, being the 2nd of 4 events we have planned for 2020-2021.

 

 

In this talk, we discussed the involvement of private developers which has become more important in urban development. We agreed that it was very important to understand the private city phenomenon from the private developer’s point of view. The private sector’s perspective  in the new development of urban landscapes in mega cities, including the opportunities and challenges, also still not yet understood. Issues such as inclusiveness and the overall sustainability of private cities are also become key issues which were aptly discussed in the seminar.
